Alverana

Alverana

12 6 6
Some corners of Tuscany remain wonderfully undiscovered — and this is one of them. Tucked between the wooded slopes of the Pratomagno mountains and the gentle vineyards of the Upper Valdarno, this is a landscape of terraced olive groves and centuries-old estates, just 35 kilometers southeast of Florence yet a world away from its crowds.
With Florence, Siena, Arezzo and Chianti all within easy reach, it's an idyllic base by day and a peaceful, storybook retreat to return to each evening.
Here Villa Alverana, a beautifully restored Tuscan farmhouse is surrounded by a large private garden and offers a heated swimming pool that makes it a wonderful retreat even during the cooler months, along with a covered gazebo perfect for al fresco lunches and dinners. Bright, welcoming interiors combine rustic Tuscan character with comfortable, contemporary amenities, making Alverana the perfect base from which to explore Florence, Chianti and the surrounding hills.

Famous for its art and architecture, Florence is an obligatory destination for the first-timer visitor of Italy. However, while exploring the historical center is something that cannot be missed, the pristine studded landscapes and the enchanted medieval villages set on the famous Tuscan rolling hills surrounding Florence are well worth a visit. The most famous area to explore is the Chianti, a blessed land that covers a rather large wine-producing region of Tuscany, reaching from Florence to Siena, and all the way out to Pisa. Chianti's must see sights are the wine villages of Castellina, Radda and Gaiole. Along the road visit the Badia di Coltibuono and/or Castello di Brolio and do not forget to pick up some wine to enjoy at the villa!
