Umbria

The green heart of Italy

Southwest of Tuscany is Umbria, also known as “The Green Heart of Italy” since it is the only region in the center-south of the Italian peninsula not touched by the sea. It is a nice alternative for those who have already visited Tuscany and long to keep exploring Italy further. The bucolic landscape of Umbria was the territory where Etruscans, Roman, Carthaginians and even Goths once ruled and their architectural and artistic legacy is still present here. This region includes an impressive share of art and historical sites however since the agriculture is still an integral part of the daily life, Umbria is also famous for its food and products of the land, such as excellent olive oil and fine wines.
