Chianti CLASSICO FULL DAY
Easy 3-hour bike tour around one of the most beautiful wine areas of Tuscany, the Chianti Classico. We’ll start in the medieval walled town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. San Casciano was developed around the intersection of two major roads, one going from Florence to Siena and the other, following the hills’ ridge, linking the Chianti area with Montelupo and the Arno river basin. An important role in San Casciano’s economical growth was played by the improvements in agricultural productivity resulting from sharecropping, which led to population growth and the formation of commercial centres like Mercatale. During the tour we will admire these beautiful and green landscapes – a natural patchwork of vineyards and olive groves – and we’ll enjoy the typical products of this area. We will visit a Chianti winery and taste the different Chianti wines. Of course we will indulge in a typical Tuscan lunch in a restaurant near Mercatale Val di Pesa.
